Landscape & Ecosystems
All over the area surrounding the Udine Golf Course, tradition and culture have contributed to maintain an unimpaired territory which is devoted to agriculture, and where there are several naturalistic areas with the reintegration of animal species that were present here in the past. The territory of the resurgences from southern friuli to the mountains of Carnia is protected as well, with all its rivers and lakes.
Besides, in the region, for years there has been a lot of work for the reintroduction of autochthonous tree species supplied by the forest Rangers.

These turfgrasses are optimal for the circumstances at Golf Club Udine because:
The Udine Golf Club is situated on a soil where sand is the prevailing component of sweet moraine hills and has a mild climate that favors a rich and luxuriant vegetation.
The high summer temperatures and the cold winters, in the course of the years, have given birth to a sound turf, made first of CYNODON and later of POA ANNUA.
The good quality of the ground together with targeted fertilization and light support over-seeding allows the Udine Golf Club to have a good turf all the year round.
As the course is highly frequented all the year, and in particular during the winter months, when the courses of the neighboring countries (Austria and Slovenia) are closed.
The composition of the turfgrass of the fairways is: 60% cynodon dactilon and poa annua, the remaining 40% is: festuca rubra, poa pratensis, agrostis stolonifera and colium perenne.
All the other grass areas, after the sowing of the first nine holes in 1970 and the second nine in 1995, have been left natural.

Water
In the past, in this region rain was frequent and plentiful, today the quantity of water is slightly less and concentred in a smaller number of events. Anyway the presence of water in the subsoil is still plentiful. Our supply comes from a well that feeds a lake with a capacity of 4.000 cubic meters. Here we have a natural self-fed lake in the marshy area of the course, and some ditches with running water during most of the year.
