Jinji Lake Golf Club (金鸡湖高尔夫)
Jinji Lake Golf Club provides over 100 hectares of green space, wildlife habitat, and wetlands in the midst of Suzhou Industrial Park. But this did not happen by accident. It is all created, on a parcel of reclaimed land in this highly-urbanized area, and since the Club’s opening in 2006 there has been additional work done to enhance the ecosystems on the property. This careful design and management has attracted birds such as the mandarin duck and Chinese ring-necked pheasant to the Club’s grounds.

Turfgrass
Size and estimated species composition of amenity turfgrass maintained at Jinji Lake Golf Club:
| Area (Hectares) | Turfgrass Species | Sward Composition | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Greens | 2.2 | Agrostis stolonifera | 100 % |
| Tees | 1.6 | Cynodon transvaalensis | 100 % |
| Fairways | 19 | Cynodon transvaalensis | 100 % |
| Semi-Rough | Cynodon transvaalensis | 100 % | |
| Rough | 60 | Cynodon transvaalensis | 100 % |
These turfgrasses are optimal for the circumstances at Jinji Lake Golf Club because:
Bermuda 419 (cynodon transvaalensis) for fairway and rough has been selected for local subtropical monsoon climate. The links Nine bermuda grass sward is framed by tall fescue rough. The tall fescue rough needs low mantainance, which lower our yearly maintenance budget. And the uniform grass of fairway and rough also ruduce the mantainance stress. We use creeping bentgrass A4 on greens fo its good performance of disease ,stress resistance and cold tolerance, and for its good playability.

Consistently applied turf management operations are based on real rather than historical data. |
| Promoting the playing quality values of more naturalized turf, particularly fairways and semi-rough | Our Links nine, features Tall Fescue out of play Rough which is totally naturlized. The Fescue rough is not irrigated or fertilized and is never mown. |
| Promoting the financial benefits of presenting sustainable surfaces | We try to manage only the area required for playability and to match our members enjoyment, which is taken into consideration when formulating our maintenance budget. |

Conservation & Enhancement
Jinji Lake Golf Club is undertaking the following activities to conserve and enhance landscape character:
| Allowing seasonal variation of course colouration and texture | We do not overseed the entire golf course, and as the Bermuda grass to goes dormant in the winter, we allow for a mojority of the course to be off colour, and green up naturally in the spring. In 2010, we have planted hundreds of shrubs and habitat patches for the texuring and also enlarge habitat areas for bird and small animals on the course. |
| Appropriately matching mowing lines to contours | We have distinctive contoured fairways on Links Course but relatively flat landscape on Forest Course and Wetlands Course. We try to use those liitle contours we have and accentuate them through carefully planned mowing patterns. |
| Discreet on-course signage and furniture | We try to use as many environmentally friendly products as we can to create a human-nature harmony atomosphere in the club. Our tee signage is made from local rock, and is low level. |
| Screening and softening unsightly man-made features | As our Forest nine has lights for night golf with telescopic poles, we have planted trees and shrubs around the light posts block them from view. |
| Landscape | Our landscape is 100% engineered, and it's easier for us to renovate it by careful planing. Our future plan will be focus on enhancing the individual character for our Wetlands course and Forest courses. |

Water
Jinji Lake golf club is located between Jinji Lake and Dushu Lake, the plenty of water from Dushu Lake insure the water supply for irrigation system. The grass species and choice of planting at Jinji Lake are appropriate for transitional climate of Suzhou industrial park, which is the fundamental support for water saving program. we only water our golf courses when we need to ,preferring a more firm and fast approach riding the edge of wilt. We try to set those variable heads to only water the turf and oranmental plantings without throwing into the cart pathes and lakes.
We strictly control the pesticide usage along the banks of water hazards, rivers and lakes to minimize the damage to the water source of Dushu Lake and Jinji Lake.

Products & Supply Chains
We put environmental friendly practices as a top consideration when purchasing pesticides and equipement for the golf course. The grass clippings returned on tees, fairways and roughs, and the greens clippings are removed weekly for use in a local compost, in order that we can avoid accumulative pollution on the land. With our wood chipper, we recycle twigs, branches, water sprouts and other landscaping biological wastes, which will be chipped into small pieces and used on our landcape beds. We carefully set yearly fertilizer plan to reduce the chance for leaching of phosophurs and nitrogen in the lakes and canals that eventually lead to Dushu Lake and Jinji Lake. At these areas around lakes, we carefully use hand sprayer when we have to apply pesticide, by which we try our best to minimum the pollution to the open water.
