Nature

The Moon Palace golf course is constructed on a property of 226 hectares, most of which is median non-evergreen jungle, and wetlands. From the early design phase through its construction process, 70% of the property was protected to serve as conservation zones. These areas serve as natural habitats for the wildlife and vegetation.
There is a great diversity of fauna occupying the jungle and the wetlands consisting of anteaters (Mexican Tamandua); white tail deer (Odocoileus virginianus); swamp crocodile (Crocodylus moreletti),and an ample diversity of birds, smaller reptiles and other mammals. The Moon Palace property borders an area of excellent ecological importance at regional level, denominated mesoamericano reef toward the ocean, and an ample area of mangrove swamps of the zone called Nichupte Lagoon towards the interior of the continent.

El campo de Golf Moon Palace se construyó sobre un terreno de 226 hectáreas, la mayor parte de ellas ocupadas por zonas de selva mediana caducifolia y humedales, desde su planeación y construcción se logró respetar una cantidad importante de zonas naturales, logrando preservar al final de la etapa constructiva mas del 70 % del terreno total, quedando dichas áreas como zonas naturales para las especies de fauna silvestre y la cubierta vegetal.En el área se presenta una gran diversidad de fauna que ocupa, las zonas de selva, los manglares y humedales, entre la fauna de mayor importancia se encuentran ejemplares de oso hormiguero (Tamandua mexicana) ; venado cola blanca (Odocoileus virginianus); cocodrilo de pantano (Crocodylus moreletti), una amplia diversidad de aves y reptiles y otros mamíferos menores.El campo de Golf Moon Palace, colinda a tres kilómetros hacia la zona marina, con un área de importancia ecológica relevante a nivel regional, denominada arrecife mesoamericano y hacia el interior del predio con amplias áreas de manglares de la zona llamada Laguna Nichupte.

Landscape & Heritage

The Moon Palace golf course holds a privileged position from the landscaping point of view because it is surrounded by jungle, wetlands and mangroves, which offer a great biological richness and provides the opportunity to appreciate different environmental surroundings. The area of botoncillo mangrove is distributed from North-South as a strip, and has been successfully used in reforestation processes which offer a sensation of privacy to the area. The Moon Palace golf course can be seen by the visitors to the tourist center of Cancún, because it is 10 minutes of the international airport. From the aerial view, one can appreciate the careful balance that the course keeps between playing surfaces and wetland areas which surround it.


El campo de Golf Moon Palace, guarda una posición privilegiada desde el punto de vista paisajístico pues se encuentra rodeado por áreas de Selva mediana, humedales y manglares, lo cual brinda una riqueza biológica, además hace posible apreciar diferentes entornos ambientales.

El área de mangle botoncillo se distribuye a manera de una franja en sentido norte – sur y en el campo ha sido utilizado exitosamente en procesos de reforestación que brindan una sensación de privacidad al área.

Waste

The Moon Palace golf course is subject to a waste handling program for the following wastes: hazardous, recyclable and nonrecyclable. The hazardous residues, are the empty chemical substance containers such as the agro-chemical or solvents which are used in the course.
These residues are temporarily maintaned in a suitable warehouse and taken off the property by a certified company who performs the final disposal of the wastes. The nonrecyclable wastes are taken off the property by the municipal service and sent to the local landfill. The recyclable residues such as pet bottles, aluminum, glass, tins, and scrap iron are separated and placed in specific warehouses and are taken off the property by specialized buyers who carry out the recycling.

El campo de Golf Moon Palace, se encuentra sujeto a un programa de manejo de residuos de los siguientes rubros : peligrosos, reciclables y no reciclables.

Los residuos peligrosos, son aquellos contenedores vacíos de algunas sustancias químicas, por ejemplo los insumos agroquímicos o solventes que se utilizan en el área. Éstos residuos son resguardados temporalmente en un almacén adecuado y retirados de la propiedad por una empresa certificada para tal efecto, quién realiza el confinamiento final de los residuos.

Los residuos no reciclables, son retirados de la propiedad por el servicio municipal y enviados al relleno sanitario.

Los residuos reciclables como botellas de pet, vidrio, latas de aluminio, chatarra, son separados desde cada una de las áreas de generación y colocados en almacenes específicos, posteriormente éstos residuos son retirados por compradores especializados para efectuar el reciclaje.
